A Grade Looks Wrong
AI2N.AI tracks progress as competency mastery, not a single letter grade — each competency moves through states (for example Not Started, In Progress, Achieved) based on graded evidence. If a state looks wrong, here's where it comes from and what can be done.
Where mastery comes from
- Graded work (rubric-scored assignments) can be linked to one or more competencies. Each scored criterion tied to a competency becomes a piece of evidence.
- Whenever new evidence is recorded, the system automatically recalculates that competency's state from all valid evidence — this happens right after grading, not on a fixed schedule.
- The current state and the reason for the most recent change are both visible on the student's competency view.
If a mastery state looks wrong
- Mastery states aren't editable by parents or students directly — the underlying evidence and calculation are the source of truth.
- A teacher (or admin) can review the evidence and, if it's genuinely wrong, apply a manual override: they set the correct state and must give a written reason, which is recorded in the competency's history alongside the automatic calculation it replaces.
- An override never edits or deletes the original graded evidence — the original submission and scores stay intact; only the resulting state is corrected, with a visible audit trail of why.
What to do
- If you're a parent or student and a state looks wrong, contact the teacher — they're the ones who can review the evidence and apply a correction if needed.
- If you're a teacher and need to correct a state, use the override action on that student's competency record (a reason is required and is kept as a permanent part of the record).
